Sud’s Buds of Statistical Wisdom: Week 4

All season long, we’re sharing some key numbers provided by NFL.com stats guy/Philly Flyers wonk Bill Sudell to help get you ready for the weekend’s action.  No prejudice, no opinion… just the stats, ma’am.  With no further ado, here ya go for Week Four…

PANTHERS at FALCONS

Michael Turner has led the Falcons in rushing in 33 straight games, the longest current streak in the NFL. Turner has 11 TD in the last 7 meetings vs Carolina

Cam Newton has 4 total TD and 6 turnovers this season. Last year against Atlanta, he had 3 total TD and 5 turnovers.

PATRIOTS at BILLS

Rob Gronkowski has 7 career TD in 4 games against the Bills. Gronkowski has had 100+ yards and 2 TD in each of the his last 2 meetings with Buffalo

Tom Brady has thrown a TD pass in 35 straight games, the 4th longest streak in NFL history

With both Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller battling injuries, it’s interesting to note that the Bills have not scored a rushing touchdown in 12 of their last 14 home games against the Patriots.

The Bills have allowed a league-low 1 sack this season.  In 9 of their last 10 games against New England, Buffalo has allowed 1 sack or less

LIONS at VIKINGS

Minnesota has allowed 33 pass TD in its last 14 games

Adrian Peterson has fewer than 90 rush yards in 9 straight games

Percy Harvin has 100+ scrimmage yards in 4 straight road games

The Lions have 1 total rush TD in their last 11 games vs the Vikings. Minnesota has not allowed a rush TD in its last 5 games overall

Calvin Johnson has 16 touchdowns in his last 20 home games

CHARGERS at CHIEFS

Kansas City has allowed 300+ pass yards once in its last 20 home games. Philip Rivers threw for 173 yards last week vs Atlanta, his lowest total in the last 35 games

Dwayne Bowe has 67 rec yards or less in 8 straight games vs San Diego

Last week, Jamaal Charles became one of two players in NFL history with 225+ rush and 50+ rec yards in the same game (Jim Brown)

RAIDERS at BRONCOS

Last week, Eric Decker had a career-high 136 rec yards against the Texans. That was 2 more yards than he’d had in the previous 5 games combinecd

REDSKINS at BUCS

Tampa has allowed 47.3 rush YPG and 2.3 yards a carry this season, both totals are best in the NFL. Last season, the Bucs were dead last in the league, allowing 156.1 yards per game on the ground.

Washington has allowed 10 pass TD this season, most in the NFL. The ‘Skins have allowed 13 pass TD in their last 4 games

Alfred Morris has 61 carries this season. The next closest running back on the roster has 5.

DOLPHINS at CARDS

The Arizona defense has 30 sacks in its last 8 games.

Arizona has allowed 23 points or less in 12 straight games and are 10-2 in that span.

BENGALS at JAGS

Andrew Hawkins has caught a 50+ yard TD pass in 2 straight games. The Jaguars haven’t allowed  a pass over 40 yards this season

BenJarvus Green-Ellis has 8 rush TD in his last 9 games in 26 TD in the last 33 games

NINERS at JETS

In his last 5 games including playoffs, Vernon Davis has 461 rec yards and 8 touchdowns.

TITANS at TEXANS

Chris Johnson has 33 carries for 45 yards this season (1.4 average)

The Texans have allowed fewer than 300 pass yards in 16 straight home games

Andre Johnson has 9 career TD vs Tennessee, the most vs any opponent

Owen Daniels had a TD catch last week, snapping a 13-game scoreless streak

SAINTS at PACKERS

New Orleans has allowed 215 yards rushing per game this season, 60 more per game than any other team

Drew Brees has thrown a TD pass in 46 straight games, one shy of Johnny Unitas’ NFL record

The Packers were sacked 8 times against the Seahawks on Monday night. 20 teams haven’t allowed 8 sacks all season

Aaron Rodgers did not throw a TD pass last week for the first time in 20 games

GIANTS at EAGLES

In his last 16 games, Michael Vick has 23 total touchdowns and 27 turnovers. Vick has had at least one turnover in seven straight games.

Eli Manning has thrown for 200+ yards in 22 straight games

The Giants have not scored a rushing touchdown in their last 4 meetings with the Eagles

The Eagles have allowed 19 pass TD in their last 9 home games

BEARS at COWBOYS

Dallas is the only team to not allow a receiving TD to a WR this season. The Cowboys have allowed 250 yards a game this season, fewest in the NFL.

Jason Witten has 0 TD in his last 9 games

Jay Cutler has fewer than 250 pass yards in 11 straight road games
